Thanks for the links and books on Fen life - I wil certainly investigate them all
. I find the Fen people charming - especially in their insular nature. A very different folk from the Hampshire Downs or Devon folk that I have spent much more time with. Generally though, they do fit the pattern of real rural dwellers which is great - and means they are amazingly welcoming (provided of course you aren't a townie
