I did an update to my app recently and following the update the app has been unusable, first thing was that it lost all the maps I had previously downloaded onto my phone.
Then it wouldnt re-download them.
Now I have one downloaded but it wont access them unless I have signal?
The main reason I have it is because I want something with me that I can access when I'm somewhere that doesn't have good signal, otherwise I'd just use Google Maps.
If you haven't already updated it and yours works I would say, think long and hard before updating it because for me its ruined a usable format.
Check out the reviews and the recent ones are absolutely dreadful, seems the development team have dropped the ball.

I use android and had similar problems after they updated it, they have since reissued a new version. I was advised to uninstall and re install which seemed to cure the issues. Once my offline maps were reloaded there have been no further issues that I have found yet :):O_O:

Hmm, if you switch your data off can you still access the suposedly offline maps, and move about on them?

Mine doesnt work unless I have signal, even on the maps I've taken the time to re-download on the app that I uninstalled and redownloaded.

I have the pre-update on my phone.
I just didn't get round to updating it, then saw that OS sent out a message saying the update was no good, so was relieved I didn't update.
They have subsequently sent out an update of the update which is supposed to work.
I haven't updated that either.
Thought I would wait to see if that had problems first.

I've always felt the OS Maps app was a wasted opportunity. It would be SOOOOOOOO much better if they added a simple GPS function to it - so you knew your coordinates. It would then be usable for so many more activities. That kind of programming and functionality is hardly new and it wouldn't have added any appreciable time and effort in design. Just don't know why they didn't do that, even if they added that function behind a pay wall.

Hi the first two updates did not function fully now it appears that I have all the offline functions you mention. The version I have is 2.0.5.731

I use an app called Viewranger and then pay an annual subscription to download OS maps.

I use a combination of OS Maps, which seems to be fine for me if you use press the screen where you are or want to be it gives to the Grid Reference and the Easting/Northings and I use OS Locate, which gives me my Grid Reference and elelvation, when I have a paper map.
