I've been carrying one for years now. They are reasonably priced, lightweight, and excellent cutters. You can't go wrong with one.

The new ones have a slightly different handle shape. The top of the handle at the end hasn't got the flare out, only the bottom part has.

Very intersting Keith. Is that bottom saw larger?

I bought one very similar to that bottom saw and giave it to a friend. He broke the blade the first time he used it. I've never had a problem with mine and I have two.

It looks to me like that bottom saw might be a redesign of the larger saw I bought.

Hoodoo, the Opinel saw in your picture has exactly the same handle as the N° 12 folding knife. The saw blade is 120 mm (4.3/4"), the same as the knife blade.

The new saw, which replaces this one, also has a 120mm blade. The locking ring and ferrule beneath it are the same (and may even carry the N° 12 stamp, I can't say for sure).

The other, larger model with a latch that hooks the back of the blade has a 190mm (7.1/2") blade.

I discovered the change in the handle at the Nontron show, in 2005, where I snapped up the last few for sale at the Opinel stand. Then I got the last two from Courty's shop in Paris just before coming over to the US.

I don't like the new shape.
