Hi all,
just a small review on this folding saw.
The blade is made from high grade carbon and the teeth are carved from the block and arranged in 2 lines.
The safety hook is used on the No. 18 saw Knife and clamps the blade in open position. The handle is made of varnished beech wood.

Opinel folding saw n. 18 it’s enough comfy in hand, but the handle it’s quite slippery

Wheight is about 180 grams

Here next to the Victorinox Swisstool Spirit

The Opinel n. 18 saw in action on wood 2” diameter

The Swisstool Spirit in action on the same wood 2” diameter. Time to cut is 4 times more than Opinel Folding saw

Conclusion: the Opinel folding saw n. 18 works well on this job, that’s means cutting wood fast and clean. The blade is thin, so tend to blend if find any obstacle, but if you want a good cut power and a light weight this is the way. The handle is too slippery to judge it as more than good. To be honest, , Opinel saw n. 18 it’s not a must for bushcraft purposes if you don’t plan to cut a bunch of branches. In fact, the saw of a multitool is good enough to cut any branches to build i.e. an A-frame or the material for a trap etc. Opinel saw n. 18 it’s a tool more focused on garden jobs, in my opinion. Can’t speak about the locking mechanism, seems to be good, but again maybe not rough enough for bushcraft purposes.

Ciao,
Alfredo

Does it cut on the Push or Pull? I have a Japanese Pruning Saw of similar size that cuts on the pull so is brilliant at cutting without getting snagged.

thanks for that alfredo, i've been thinking about getting one of these for a while.
do you think it would be difficult to take the whole thing to pieces i.e remove the blade and locking mechanism from the wooden handle?

cheers
