Be careful of backspin. You can get a nasty tangle or snarl in your line with them until you get used to casting with it. They're very, very poular here with bass fishermen or bait casters casting long distances. I have one but have never gotten the hang of casting with it.

I doubt that they are the smoothest of reels to use and trotting will be hard but for £5 worth a play.

Hi Santaman, the reel in the link are not multiplier reels used as bait casters, i had one as a lad 50 years ago and they are very basic and to cast distance you had to pull the line out and use the eyes on the rod to stop the line from tangling. brings back memories, happy days.

I've got one older than that, mines made of wood & metal, & dates from the 20's, came in a leather case, also have the rod(hardy)& landing net that came with it. They belonged to my grandads brother.
