Numpty with a new camera alert! ;)
This's been my knife since I was 14 or so. It was falling apart last summer and over the course of a couple of meets I hacked and slashed away at Eric's table and at home to replace the leather.

I'd have oiled and wax'd it if Bardster hadn't planted the hot wax dip seed in my head. At the moment it's all just in the pink, in regular use and if it picks up a few stains then so be it - it's in a damn sight better state than it was six months ago. :)

You just reminded me that I have one of those, at my parents somewhere. Must dig it out sometime and see what I can do with it. Had mine for about 15+ years, only used for chopping up things I found on the bank when I was fishing.

Yours should be just entering it's falling apart stage too. It's the plastic bits in the handle that go brittle with age and break up. Of course spending hour after hour chucking it at a big dead elm in it's early days may not have helped there.
Don't expect too much from the blade, they always were cheap lumps of junk. Takes dogs abuse happily though. :)

Some of us never grow up. ;)

For digging arrows out of stumps or roots out of earth it's just the job, it's big enough to slice bread and heavy enough to use as a hammer. Most of the scratching came from prising shellfish off rocks.
I've got a wee folder if I need something sharp that'll get replaced when I get round to doing another handle and sheath for the blade I have kicking about. I won't be abusing the new one though so this'll still get packed.

Cheese is cool, you can sharpen it on any old rock :p (although I usualy have a mini diamond stone in the kit if I need an edge on it).

Since it was going to be parading about in public at the weekend I added a bit of colour and waxed the handle.
Figured a heavy wax rub wouldn't affect a dip much. Sould pick up enough wax next week to try some cooking. :D
