Birthday in december and I managed to persuade my wife that I needed to get a new winter coat.... 😄

Grey wool with some sort of dead animal lining and collar. Toasty!

Its a soviet army great coat, the lining is stitched together from different coloured patches so I would assume its real fur. Weighs a ton and is lovely and warm. Cheap too.

I really like it. I feel right now in time we are missing out on a few facts about keeping warm. Fur Works! Surprised Ray doesnt talk about it much. "In Mother Russia you warm fur!"

I think we don't see much and Ray maybe doesn't talk about it because it's seen by some as UN-PC to wear fur. Seal-skin sporrans are still acceptable (though has to be Inuit sourced seal skin) and we still wear leather, but that's seen as a side component from the meat industry. But fur, sheep and lamb skin are wonderful insulators and so much by-product of the meat industry (rabbit and the like) from will not get bought here.

Yep, the PC thing is quite crazy really, I'm not a fur trade enthusiast, far from it, but I don't like driving past a bit of road kill fur. This year I've seen two really good looking well marked martens and an otter, all roadside and all un squished, a few years back I'd have had them but these days I just drive by. I'd know where they came from, my neighbours and friends would know, but how do you prove it if the wildlife crime officer came calling? It's a shame things are as they are, but there we have it.
