New spoons

I've decided to join the spoon club, here are my first two atempts.

Not great i know but they do work. function over form.

They're both hawthorn, I heard that it's a good wood to start with.
I'd like to try birch next.

They are both really good, what finish did you use, I ve never used hawthorn yet.... ah you have been an inspiration... time to nip out and harvest some of the thorn wood.

Anyone used blackthorn ? I may give it a go. But I have reaction to the thorns.... nasty. And sloes make me loose my voice

I just rubbed in some toasted sesame oil that I use for making chinese stir frys, it's quie a dark oil and smells nice too.
