Made this while waiting for some new bits to arrive (to replace parts I botched on failed attempt to drill scales for an F1 ):

Lauri PT blade, Antler, Birch Bark, and Birch Handle.

Not totally happy with the shape, but I made this one thin and it feels really good in the hand.

Silkstone, Blighty!
I didn't realise birch bark could be used on handles. I take it they are the strips between the wood and the antler, I thought it was leather.

Nice looking knife, I really must get on with that blade I've had sat around for months!!!

Birch bark tends to last longer than the wood so perhaps, just as long as the bark isn't also rotten? Dunno if I'd use it - I got some in for this job because I didn't fancy using the rotten stuff I usually cut of dead trees round my way. Maybe shrinkage could be a problem. I'll be oiling this knife a lot over the next few weeks to get a nice honey colour so I don't think it'll be a problem on this knife.
