Was at the CLA gamefair today for a number of reasons, mainly to buy stuff cheap
but also because we ( dad works at an agricultural college, i tag along for the cake and tea ) were invited to the lauch of this "exciting new venture". I thought some off you wonderful people may be interestedso i qoute from the lantra website
The new skills-based Awards from Lantra Awards will cater for all levels of firearms experience, from entry level through to advanced. They cover a wide spectrum of topics from preliminary safety shotgun/rifle, pest and fox control, shoot organisation and management, through to health & safety and professional shotgun coaching.
The Firearms Awards evolved from specialist customised provision piloted in the south of England over the last three years. They have been developed after in-depth research and engagement with independent experts and stakeholders within the shooting and land management industries.
The Awards are designed to be flexible and invite an active involvement from the shooting industry at every level. The new Awards will meet the demands of those interested in firearms and shooting, both recreationally and professionally. They are designed to develop skills and record evidence of achievement.
The Awards incorporate theoretical and practical modules and will be delivered by experienced instructors with a proven background in shooting and firearms skills.
Courses include:
Firearms Use and Preliminary Safety (Rifle/Shotgun) Level 1
Sporting Shotgun: Field Safety and Practice Level 2
Assisting Shooting (Loading) Level 1
Pest Control (Rim Fire Rifle): Safety, Theory and Practice - Level 2
Fox Control (Centre Fire Rifle): Safety, Theory & Practice Level 2
Shoot Organisation and Management: Risk Assessment and Health & Safety Planning
Shotgun Coaching Level 1, 2 & 3
Advanced Rifle Level 3
First Aid Emergency Response for Shooting Related Industries
All courses will cost £30, which is very reasonable compared to others availible. The course will be offered around the country i cant remember where exactly.
