hi everyone iv just joined this site and already i have found lots of great info on bushcraft. iv always had a keen interest in bushcraft and survival skills, but iv never had a chance to practise any. thats gonna change because at the moment im putting the kit i need together to start learning. i am stuck on chosing my first knife, im not sure on what i should be looking for in a knife. can anyone recomend a good first knife for me please? many thanks

Frosts Mora - everyone will agree it is the perfect starter knife. Mine is probably the best 10 quid I ever spent. On here u can find articles on how to make leather sheaths or buy on on ebay

Yes - but make sure you get a carbon blade unless you intend playing on the water a lot, in which case go for stainless - IMHO

thanks again, shal i also bye a folding knife as a back up, if so is buck a good make, because theres a few on ebay that are really cheep?

thats great, thank you so much, iv hade a look at the mora knife on ebay, is the green one a safe choice?
Green is fine, but easy to misplace in the woods ;)

I got one of these monsters... very hard to lose around camp!!

Interestingly, the Mora Bushcraft knife sheath is not handed which is much more convenient for a lefty like me. The Clipper sheath is right-handed.

thats great iv just bought my first knife on ebay, i got a mora carbon steel for 7.99, i took wallenstein advice about finding the knife in the woods, so i went for a nice blue one with black handle. thanks again every one you all have bean great helt today
