What do you think about the new iPad well that's what they have named it lol, I thought that they would have gone with iPad HD,do you think it's worth the upgrade, and what are your thoughts?
mods if thismisnin the wrong section if you could move it that would be great.
thanks in advance.

They are quite sexy bits of kit, I played around with the previous version a while back, it really was quite intuitive and very responsive. I would never buy one though, I like things I can take apart and fiddle with. I'm no longer part of Apples target demographic.

Lol, the mrs has taken over me laptop, me kids have taken over the spare laptop, as me eldest said that her laptop screen is to small, kids aye, I already have an iPhone, so ended up getting one, and have to say its great, only got it this week after having a play with johnboys at the meet, glad I did now, as I can't get near me laptop when her indoors is on face
ache.
take care.

You never touched mine and would have been in real trouble if you had.
Lee there a great bit of kit and take up very little room. I have a few movies on mine so when out fishing
it helps me wind down and relax on a night plus can keep up with whats happening on here.

My laptop hardly ever gets used anymore and the wifes LT is the same since i bought her one too.

I've got the iPad 2 and love it, but won't be upgrading to the new one for a better camera (which I never really use) or better screen. Same reason I didn't upgrade to the iPhone 4s. Needs to be a bit more dramatic for me to upgrade. But wouldnt be without the iPad now, love it to bits. Just means I'm never off the forum in the evenings now

Don't really get this pad craze, work sent me out a few pads and i ended up sending them back after a few weeks.

The Ipads was dire as it's virtually impossible to install anything that hasn't gone through Itunes, then there is the no external memory, battery etc.
The Android pads got more use, but still none were any where near as useful as my laptop.

Certainly will not be spending my hard earned on anything like that.

I won't be surprised if the cheap one is £400+... or put another way, £100 more expensive than a budget laptop that will do everything an iPad will do (apart from make iFans want to sleep with you) AND play DVD's.

I'm betting it won't make phone calls, despite being little more than a big phone.

After a lot of debate about whether or not I'd use one, I picked up an iPad 2 last year.
Great piece of kit, I use it quite a bit.
The new one though, I'm not sure I'll upgrade.
It doesn't seem that much of a leap in tech to make it worth my while upgrading.
If you're thinking of getting one, I'd probably get a 2 since they're dropping the price.

Same a Graham I debated about the need/usefulness of an ipad for a while and ended up deciding it wasnt worth the money for what you get and how much i would use it.

VERY luckily my dear old mum came into some money just after Christmas and, being a tecnophobe, wanted me to take her laptop shopping so she could find out "what all this computer, facebook, ebay skype stuff is all about" that her friends keep talking about.
Long story short i made a sarcastic comment about how I was expecting payment for my consulting services and pointed out the ipad 2 as a joke, next thing i know we get back to the car and she had bought it an wouldnt take no for an answer! :o

I fully agree it doesnt have the same versatility as even a basic laptop as you cant install many programs and the lack of flash player for some websites (no not those websites  ) is a real pain.
That said i wouldnt be without mine now and it is perfect for surfing the web or wathcing a movie if the missus is watching her, well sh*te, on tv.
I wouldnt take mine camping with me as I wouldnt trust myself not to site on/get wet/lose or in some other way ruin it but can see the use of it for those slightly morecareful with their things than me.

I pad 2 = genius.... It's not a lap top and doesn't pretend to be one. I've had mine for 10 months and it's been absolutely brilliant in every way... Perfect for travel, lightweight and the battery lasts of ages and I can hook into the system at work via citrix, It just works..
I'll wait until i pad 4 is out before upgrading...

Pretty much sums it up....

I have got an "original" version which everyone thinks is quite funny as I was their most vocal critic at work then turned up with one. However I can still say I would not pay twice the price for an apple ego...as I won it!

If you remember that it is NOT a laptop and it is NOT a phone then actually it does what it does very well. This last few weeks mine has been a joy as it is so light and I can do most of what I wanted plus spend far too long on BCUK instead of staring at four walls.

However it seems to suffer from the apple design over reliability as along with many others I have problems with the home button, I never had engineering failures in a laptop within days of the warranty expiring!

I would quite like a camera as I use it a lot for conferencing but I am not paying 400 plus for that when I have 3 equally good webcams on other, less convenient but usable, devices.

Dont get the iPhone thing, my old nokia does calls and sends texts ... Last days in a rucksack and does not mind unduly being sat on or dropped.

Pretty happy with my ipad2, got it some months ago, I dont plan to go for the new one.. I think I'd wait for the ipad4 as well (if/when) I was hoping for a mem card slot, and ?not sure if it supports flash?

I think the retina display will be quite impressive but watching the trailer on apples site I was thinking, wow that picture is amazing, what a screen, it was only then I realised that I was watching this on my iPad 2 :lmao: IMO HD can only go so far before its so good making it any better doesn't make much difference.

Think ill go with the majority and wait for the iPad 4 or maybe even 5 before I upgrade as I currently love my iPad 2.

At least they're not going down the iPhone route and bringing out half an upgrade every year and just adding an s to the name although shamefully I have an iPhone 4s ATM and am actually really happy with it :)
