Got this beauty in a swap with Blackwolf1.

Feels very nice to hold, a lot of weight, handle is Green linen Micarta, much bigger that i usually go for, overall its 10 inches, i usually go no bigger than 8 but i am pleasantly surprised, i am not a fan of big knives but i think i am now :)

Parkerized finish on the blade and 1095 high Carbon Steel.

Here are some pics :)

Couple of questions though, how does this type of finsh stand up to standard use such as feather sticks, preparing game ect?

And any tips for maintaining the finish, high carbon = easily goes rusty.

Cheers.

Nice! I quite like that!

Does the blade have a matt 'coating' if so this could provide some corosion resistance however I find that my carbon knife dosn't need much more care than the stainless - as long as its kept rust free patination only adds character and a tad of protection to boot!

Always a problem with coated knives, you can look at it in 2 ways, 1st is that it's ruining the looks of your knife (which is very nice by the way) or 2nd, that each mark gives it some history and if it gets real bad you can just polish the hole thing at a later date!
Nothing more heart breaking than a draw queen that has been built to be used like your Rat. Just purchased a Chris Reeve fixed blade (shadow IV), a few years old but still unused, not for long :theyareon
