It’s a restriction from OS. £90 a year I get three apps to navigate with, plan routes and can also print maps off from the OS subscription.

GPS Training offer free access to OS maps for creating routes and downloading the GPX tracks on their website here: GPS Training OS Route Planner Great if you have a device or phone that can take GPX tracks but only have less detailed free maps (or no map at all).
I think you can also print out an A4 map from there, but you're quite limited in how much of that the OS allows.
