Just done the first oil on my new scandi, finished this afternoon (this is the 2nd knife I've made):

It's a progressive tempered lauri 95mm blade, nickel silver bolster and spacers, birch handle with a bit of buffalo horn thrown in for good measure. This one will be my 'user'.

The pre-stamped bolster was a problem to fit over the tang and still doesn't fit particularly well, but it's not noticeable. Sanded to 320 grit and then polished for a very long time with really fine steel wool. Tung oil only to finish.

Now to make the sheath!

Thanks for looking.

Nice job. In my limited experience, it seems better to reverse the punched guard (so the unpolished side is out) and treat the hole as a starting point. This way, the deformation around the hole (from punching) is on the back side and not visible. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

That's exactly what I did - though I did sit and grind down the punched side with sandpaper on glass as well so that the 'lip' formed between it and the next spacer didn't mean too much filing on the finish.

Re the blade - it's amazing compared to the whittler I use at the moment- but that could just be my rubbish sharpening! :D
