A while ago I posted this thread http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23008 and Dougster took up the challenge.

Now the only knives I had owned until then were all factory made, such as my Frosts Clipper and Fallkniven F1 so I wasn't entirely sure what to expect.

After a few e-mails between Dougster and I, I decided on Spalted Beech scales, black liners, brass pins and a double dangler sheath with a firesteel loop, and also the firesteel included.

This is what I got:

Needless to say I'm very, very pleased, but a few days later Dougster PM'd me and said he had forgotton to include the keyrings. Keyrings? I asked, this was news to me, but apparently Dougster makes keyrings out of the left over wood for the scales. This was an added bonus on it's own but as it had taken sligtly longer than normal he also through in a nice little "free gift" as compensation.

I've got to say I'm very pleased. The knife blank was nice on it's own and I would recommend this small blade, I would definately recommend Dougster if, like me, you don't have a clue where to start on handeling a knife blank.

Once again many thanks Dougster/Richard.

Best wishes....Stu

Aye tis a fine blade. Very nice. Is the patterning a fungus? Or is it a particular type of exotic wood?

Lovely work as always Rich!

I really must try this one day just to say I've done it! Wouldn't be a patch on that but I'd learn something :)

Yes mate, your right, it is produced by a fungus. The Spalted beech on this one is similar to the scales i had on Project Lupo, but you can get Spalting in a lot of woods, Sycamore being one. Very attractive and when finished right it really gives the wood a depth.

Nice work again Dougster, well in mate!

It's a nice piece of work - I made my own knife from a Lapplander 90 blade a couple of years back.
It is an acceptable user but I find the blade a little thick.

Real nice work Dougster, interesting wood grain.

I really like these knives great little all-rounder, nice and sharp and hold a reasonable edge.

I’m just waiting for my next blade to turn up so I can start my forth one.

Regards Richard.

P.S. does anyone know a good/cheap supplier for Lapplander blades?
