Iroka is the same stuff that is used on the new Ray Mears Bushcraft knife by SWC. Looks really nice...
It's a very oily wood, and the dust will set fire to itself if you cut lots of it with a bandsaw. chips with the grain when carving, but nice and smooth if sanded with fine paper. I've built many a curved varanda from it.iroka? really? i used to make lorries for a living and iroka was what we always used for the flooring, mainly because it was so cheap! i use it to make earrings. horrible stuff to carve, i only ever work it with power tools (grinders, belt sanders etc.) it does take alovely polish though. i can probably lay my hands on loads of the stuff if anyone should want any
stuart
I wouldnt mind giving it a try matey, let me know what the script is by pm if you can get hold of any
