Just finished this one.....No 4.....Went for a smaller blade this time and a different style handle. I love it.....As usual I used a machine hack saw blade. The scales are teak, part of what is left of our old family dining table from when I were a lad...The pins are 4 inch nails cut to fit.....

Thank you Shaun.....
That would be a diddy knife Red, what would that be used for...? Easy enough to do though....Could get four of them out of one blade....

Nice one Jon,
It looks like a seasoned user already.
Do you heat treat the blades in any way - I've got a big hacksaw blade that I can't use.....;)

Cheers Ogri...The blades are already heat treated, so drilling the holes is fun. I use a bench grinder and a tub of water to get the blade into shape. I go slowly and quench lots. The blades hold a fairly good edge, but are softer than most knifes.....

I wondered if you annealed them before grinding to shape, then re hardened and tempered them afterwards. Anyone know if this is possible - I've heat-treated file based knives in the kitchen range before.

Hon,

I have a vision as one as a backup knife - sub 6" length to fit in that scruffy pouch I wear

Thank you all for the nice replys.....Red....I will make you one mate, just send me the dimensions and shape you want and I will sort you one...
Ogri...I do not do any heat treatment, don't know how to, but I am sure that even though I am careful, I do anneal the blade a bit as I grind it.....Saying that, I have done plenty of whittling with a previous one and it kept its edge quite well, so who knows..?
Shrinken....It is full tang, just like this one.... http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18818

Seriously, I would love to make you one...I enjoy doing them, still have 1 1/2 blades left and loads of wood, got some rose wood if you fancy that.....You would have to sort your own sheaf though.....

Well - thats very kind - I'm sure we could work out a mead trade ;)

Probably easier if I explain when I see you and we'll do a sketch together!

But - how can you get a scandy grind on such a thin blade?

Thanks Jon
