First off is the disclaimer: I didn't take these photos.
Now, Barbara and I went down to Destin today just knocking around; getting some parts for her kayak rack, shopping at Bass Pro (she got a new surf/pier rod & reel combo) We had root-beer-float, she did some shopping at one of the beach shops, etc.
This photo was shared by Bass Pro and is of the bridge over the East Pass going into Destin from Okaloosa Island. Today, when we crossed, there was much more traffic on the bridge and loads more vessels in the water. The body of water to the upper left is Chotawhatchie Bay. The small body of water just to the right at the end of the bridge is Destin Harbor. The body to the upper right (not much is actually showing in the photo) is the Gulf Of Mexico, and they are all connected by the East pass.
While I also didn't take the next two photos of a Fish Eagle (Osprey) they were taken locally, by a local photographer and they're a common sight here; both perching and hunting as in these two photos
Lastly, we stopped and walked the Okaloosa Island fishing pier on the way home. We had originally planned on fishing tonight but the weather wasn't cooperative so we decided not to pay the full price (fishing is $7.50 each per day while walking the pier is only $2) Anyway, Barbara took this photo of the view looking back toward the shore of Ft Walton Beach and Mary Esther to the east.
Here's a copy of the fishing report that the pier posted this morning at 09:01. When we got there, they had added a Cobia and a few King Mackerel to today's catch as well as quite a few Bluefish.
Yesterday: Spanish, Northern, Hard tails and Cobia.
Today: Reds, Tarpon, Spanish, Northern and Hard tails.
