Dave,

If you have a look on the "£5 sharpening kit" sticky, I did some illustrations on the way to sharpen a Mora. You can substitute the DC4 for the blocks in the thread. It'll take a while with such a small stone (I keep my DC4 for field touch us) but it will work

Alternatively buy a pack of wet and dry and itll be a lot quicker!

No worries Dave.

If you can't get it right, post it to me with an SAE - I'll sort it out and post it back

Red that is incredibly generous of you mate but I am a stubborn git and willget it right!!
One question on the steel I strop my knife more or less after I have used it and get it shaving sharp. How do you use the steel?
I know how to sharpen a kitchen knife with the steel or are we doing a similar motion to stropping on leather but on steel?
Many thanks again Dave

If you have leather and some buffing compound, forget the steel. You don't need it. When you sharpen you build up a "wire" on the cutting edge of the blade - if you look close with a magnifying glass you can see it. The stropping motion is to break off the wire and polish the bevel. Use the "suede" side of the leather and rub some pink or green buffing compound into the leather first ( 2 or 3 quid from the abrasives website on the £5 thread for a lifetime supply).

The stropping motion is "spine first". I hesitate to describe it as the same motion as a steel as good chefs use a steel "cutting edge first" for a cutting steel then "spine first" for a finishing steel

Hope that helps?
