Is there any population management to mitigate the agricultural damage that geese do?

The Montrose basin allows some shooting and some folks around here have been known to develop goose fever!!!
Most farms where they destroy crops will have someone willing to shoot them. There's also let shooting too.
There's a huge migration and then one day a great big load of them will take off for sunny England and further down south.
