Hi. I'm 78 years of age and like fishing and camping with my wife. I have a wood near me where I can camp. I have a Winnerwell Nomad wood burning stove, and have now purchased a Pipe Oven. At my age and now unfortunately have been diagnosed with the big C, I need the extra comfort of such things. However, after installing and using the pipe oven I read a very small section of the instruction that says. " When you are no longer cooking in the oven, you must remove the oven to avoid causing it damage, as it must not be heated when not cooking" There is no way I will be able to remove it, without letting the stove fire burn itself out and then allow the equipment to cool down. Then dismantle the flue remove the oven and start the stove up again. Does anyone think, it would be OK to just leave the oven door open.
Thanks

Welcome! Sorry to hear of the diagnosis and wishing you all the best.

I don't see how it'd be feasible to remove the oven whilst the stove is still going, so would think it's fine to just leave attached until your stove has gone out. I personally would just leave it attached for that end-to-end use of the stove.

The alternative would be to dismantle the flue whilst the stove is still going, filling the tent with Carbon Monoxide, which I can't imagine they'd want to encourage!

My assumption would be that if the stove is permanently constructed, or in use for say a full week, then they mean don't leave the oven on for the full time if you're not using it that day.

Thankyou for the reply. The instructions say. "When the oven is not in use, for cooking food, it is strictly prohibited to heat up the EMPTY oven on the stove to avoid the deformation of the oven, or failure of the thermostat by high temperature" They don't tell you that before you spend over £400 on it. I've added a correction to the price. The oven on its own cost £205, the cost of the stove and oven was £646. the stove cost £440

I honestly don’t see how it would be possible to use it without it heating up before and after cooking, to be honest. I don’t think those are reasonable conditions to set in order to void the warranty, either. It’d be like saying ‘please ensure the pipe does not have water in it before or after using the tap’.

I also do not see how it being empty would make it more or less likely to deform. If you are roasting potatoes in there, the oven is going to be at the same temperature as if there were no potatoes in there.

I do suppose that opening the door when not in use would help though, as it’ll be retaining less heat.

How baffling!

That is very confusing.

I’ve looked at three videos and none of them suggests that you have to dismantle the stove when not cooking.

Just from watching the videos - is there a way of cleaning soot from the oven flu area?

I have often thought that there is a business to be developed helping some none English speaking manufacturers with the wording of their advertisements and written instructions in English.
