A heads up that we have a MindMoot event running the weekend of May 30th to June 1st. These are different from the bigger Moot events and designed to be a more relaxing and contemplative weekend.

The point of the MindMoot is to enjoy yourself by slowing down and taking some time to focus on you. We combine some basic bushcraft skills with mindfulness and other skills, learn from each other, and hopefully you get to take away a few valuable tools that are helpful in your daily life.

Here's a couple of comments from previous attendees:
“During that time I connected with myself, with a group of other people, and with the world around me more richly than I have for years.” — Alison
“I left feeling much better than I arrived. Calmer, more relaxed, more grounded - better.” — Mark

That looks great, I have struggled a bit with mental health the last few years from an PTSD/anxiety/social anxiety point of view. I wonder if this would be good for me to start to reconnect with social stuff again. I would be coming in my own.

For example, I haven’t been to the Sussex bushcraft club for ages, and feel guilty about that, but just didn’t feel able to, and it’s only this year that I have been able to get out wild camping again.

Hmm will check the holiday planner :)

NOT HIJACKING THE THREAD.

@MrEd
Whatever else you do, whether you come to the Mind Moot or not, work on ditching that guilt. It’s not always easy but well worth the effort.

I’m not an authority here, just someone who is on a path heading in this direction. Perhaps we can swap experiences if we meet at the Moot.

The hanks pat, easier said than done, and the longer that passes the harder it is to ‘come clean’ and explain absences to people (in general), and the more you worry about doing so. It’s like a viscous circle.

I will have a serious think about the mind moot, it’s about 2.5hrs from me so totally doable from that point of view.

Hey Ed.

I attended the Winter Moot in 2024 as my first trip out of the house really after a few really quite awful months mental health wise. It was my first ever Moot and I am glad I did it.

If it helps, I told myself if I get there and didn’t like it, I could always just drive home. Nothing forcing me to stay there. Turns out once I got there that I decided to stay the full week, but the option was always there. Maybe put your boots on and see how you feel from there?

Be kind to yourself dude.
