How do military sizes translate, ie a jacket is 180/112 cm or 180/120 cm etc. ?

Yep the 112 is the chest size, the 180 is the length of the smock from the collar to the hem, some peeps prefer them to hang lower ;)

that's a long jacket at 5'11" .. are you sure it's not the height of the wearer??
Yes your correct, the 180/112cm is intended for someone of 5' 11" height and 44" chest, not the actual size of the garment :lmao:

unlike the swedish system which works on height and weight in Kg

i never got my head around the UK military trouser sizing system of 3 numbers, which i think were waist size / seat size / leg length...in cms ?

Just for a bit of further info you've also got the NATO sizes which work in the same way as the above but relate to a size range rather than a specific size. I've got a S95 jacket here which is a 180/104. So far so good. It's NATO size is 7080/9505, though, which looks baffling until you look closer. The first part is the height range (1)70cm to (1)80cm tall, the second the chest size 95cm to (1)05cm. The hundred (1) is always omitted to make it a standard 8 digit number. Any questions?

The point of all this is that you can then get to grips with sizing stuff from other NATO countries which otherwise can be a bit of a struggle.

Cheers, David

I am 6'2" and when I was in the Army, my jackets / overalls were 190 / 112.

These were a good size for me with plenty of room!

I can't remember the trouser sizes.
