Messages that I can't view?

My message counter seems to be going up, but I have no visible messages in my inbox?

Any suggestions?

If you replace "messages" with "notifications" it makes more sense.

Mines at three thousand odd so it must be a notification counter too for some reason

Your alerts do yes, top right corner you have a flag, that's notifications that someone has liked or commented on a thread you're involved in, next to that on the left is an envelope, that's your conversations or private messages as it used to be known with other forum members, does that help / make sense ?

And as said, your messages under your avatar in a thread is how many posts you've made.
