Very nice....Is it me or is there some unspoken need to know how to carve a spoon? its just very popular thing too do on the forum now I'm in no way knocking a good skill, but you never heard of chop sticks?.............I guess I should get me coat.....

Nice spoon. I can see it being used in the kitchen, scooping out esseniaks like honey, Nutella, stuff like that!

It is a goid skill set how to make a spoon in case you lose it while away from civilisation.

Happened to us last summer. But my version was a bit cruder.
A thin birch branch, a square of birch bark and some pine root.

His version is nicer!

Give good consideration to your design, which for #1, is far, far better than most.
Thin the rim, the edge. Makes the bowl of the spoon look thinner without compromising strength.
Make the neck thicker where the handle joins the bowl. Sooner or later, some jerk will try to pry
stiff food out of a jar when you back is turned. Odd how you will hear it snap in that moment of silence.

Second go...a spoon/spatula to go with my Trangia cookset. Same birch as before, but I got some new sandpaper today to make this one a ‘smoothie’

I didn’t know this could be quite so addictive.

Great work on your first spoon and welcome to the addiction. Your second spoon looks great and there is nothing wrong with using sand papper, just remember to wet the spoon and use progressively higher grit paper until there is no more fluff rising.
