Thanks As it is being made mainly cutting and splitting logs for the wood burring stove in the garden, it would work fine without handle as long as gloves are worn. So, I will just heat treat it to harden, temper and give final sharpening, and then just use it with some para chord or rubber tapes around the handle for the time being. But maybe handle and sheaths could be done for the 2nd project in the long run after seeing how the blade performs.
Spader,some self amalgamating tape round the handle will improve the grip.
I made my grandson a cricket bat and used it on the handle,worked better than I expected.
