I had never realised that Magpies groomed each other. I watched these two grooming for about ten minutes this morning, themselves and each other. I'm guessing that they are a mating pair.

Magpies evil??? Cuckoos they're evil. But seriously, I've seen this on many occasions. It's great when we observe something we weren't aware of.

I used to have two or three come and peck all the bad stuff out of the horse's coats when they were lying down in the paddock during the day, and they'd then go up on the fence line and groom each other.

Didn't Terry Pratchett come across a lady who specialised in collecting country folklore who knew about 25 or so different versions of the Magpie count?

Just like saying 'candyman' three times while facing a mirror, some magpie counts should remain forgotten. :)

Magpies have only started moving in 'round here in the last couple of years so I'm still having fun watching them. Was a real novelty when I lived on the west coast. We also get the odd say in these parts too, corvids are fun to watch.
Who was the Brian May lookalike that used to present the Magpies TV series?
Cheers for posting up th pictures, always nice to see.
