Maglite LED upgrade recommendations

Happy New Year n that!

I’ve got a 2 and a 6 D cell Maglite and I’m looking to upgrade them both to LED – advice and recommendations appreciated.

I was thinking same. I havea 2 cell and a 5.
I really got the 5 sort of for protection as a club. but I never use it.
I found the two was nice and heavy and would do the job just fine.

I bought the 3w Maglite branded upgrade for my two cell (ebay). I can't offer a comparison with other upgrades but it was cheap and has turned the torch into something I want to play with again! Very satisfied.

I got the Terralux for the AA Mag that I have and it spured me to buy a 3 cell D Mag to do the same to, by luck I managed to get an Mag with the official conversion to LED and standard bulb inc for £15 from Arco

I used to be a big fan of the Maglite torches - when they first came out they were great pieces of kit but I'v efound they just haven't kept up with technology.

The LED lenser torches IMO are a much better bet and provide an equivalent light in a smaller package.

Just my two penneth.

No personal experience of them, but I'm going thro a similar decision process as yourself - the guys on Candlepower have been v.helpful and that Terralux is being suggested as a good upgrade. Better than the official Mag one too.

There are cheaper on eBay - clickety for example

Hmm - yes, I'd wondered about that, but the ref numbers are the same and every other search I've done says they are 3 watts - as in this one from The Torch Site or this one from the States.

(Not trying to be a smart alec, just wondering if there may be a mis-print - - )

They all mention 140 lumens.

i have a 4 d cell maglite with a terralux led conversion. Very, very bright. I also have a couple of led lensers that are ace for the size of them. if you are doing maglite conv, try and get terralux.
