M39 butchered

I modified my m39 to remove the frame and convert it to a soft day pack style. It seems to hang better after these mods (looks less like a scrotum )

Next addition will be a sternum strap I think and maybe some sheepskin padding for the straps.

I see you took the metal buckles off the shoulder straps and joined them up, I did the same too, I removed the roll bar from them and use them as bottle openers now . Let us know how you get on without the frame please.

Some more work on the pack today, extended top flap straps fitted..

I was gona remove the frame from mine but I liked the support it gave when I went shopping and had loads of liquids to carry. Its a pain for every other aspect though lol.

Any tips when doing this?

nice work! there was a pack like that available before. But now you only see the ones with frame

Its a one way conversion so be sure you want to do it first!😁 you need to make sure that you reinforce the inside of the bag where you are going to attach the shoulder straps.
