I used Sam Browne studs for the fastenings and copper saddlers rivets to add extra strength to the construction. The whole sheath I saddle stitched by hand with black waxed linen thread, the leather is 4mm thick veg tan hide. I wetted and burnished the edges with a plastic bone folder and finally waterproofed it all with a mixture of beeswax, petroleum jelly, and neatsfoot oil which i melted by placing in a steel bucket then placing into the boiling water and then applied to the sheath which i had warming in the oven. I repeated this process until the leather was sucking up no more, this waxing gives it an 'Antique' look. I didnt use any dyes
