Hi all,

I am going to start using Line loks at the tarp end of my guy lines.
At the other end of the lines I want to have some loops in pre positioned places so that I can set up a tarp on open fields super quick. IE- peg through the holes, insert basha poles, tighten line loks, voila.
Then, if I wish to set up to points further out on the guy line the loops can stay in place without causing any problems. OR, they can be taken out fairly easily if necessary.

I have seen the alpine butterfly but was wondering if there are any other knots people can suggest.

Pile Hitch instead of loops?

I assume I would be doing that hitch straight onto the peg?

That's correct :)

And it looks easy enough to remember.

It's about as easy as it gets - certainly once the muscle memory kicks in ...

As Mountainm says, a prussick loop tied into the guy would also do the job admirably.

And if you make use of sticks found in situ, to prevent the line slipping off the top, you could combine the two ~ pile hitch the prussick loop onto the stick and have the guy line adjustable from both ends :D .
