True but if needs must it could be unravelled I suppose or just make the holes bigger?

I have no idea the size of mine certainly thicker than waxed linen, however I never count anything out

While butchers twine is strong, no arguments there, Linen is more durable, even when not waxed as cotton (butchers twine) has far more stretch/contraction than linen does, which makes it a weaker choice over time. Cotton will work well enough if its never gonna get wet though.

Wow interesting how a thread (no pun) can make some people rather over excited.

Still at 2 in the morning I'm sure linen threads more interesting than belly button fluff

Interesting response.

i'm sure your extensive experience is at play here. How do you use belly button fluff in your leather work?

If it can be useful, i'll consider not cleaning myself so i don't have to fork out for linen.

How do you wax it effectively? In one ear, out the other?

Pedants hat on...

Cotton is a short staple fibre, it is a thirsty fibre. If it can get damp, it will, and if it can stay damp, it will.

Linen is a long staple fibre and it sheds water rather than holds it in.

Climate dependant, and what you want to do with it, they're both excellent.

Given the choice though, linen thread is better than cotton for leatherwork, I find.

Old leatherworkers used to make their own threads....flax for spinning is easily available if you want to try it.

Flax, beeswax, badger's bristle....it sounds like a potion almost, doesn't it ?
