Yes seems to be some variance in weight reports. Anywhere from 2kg to 3.5. There was another thread I found that average measurements were more in the mid 2kg's range. Any of that range is fine by me. I have set my sights on it, now just to find one
I have a Lowe alpine sting, genuine, in green, it weighs 1900g empty

I have (had) an awry that was ex-Danish army - slightly lightweight fabric but still bombproof, I have it to my nephew, he is still using it.

Super packs, well worth hunting down, I love my sting. Happy to take any photo you want

How shiny is the DPM print on the Awry ones fellas? Some reviews say its markedly more reflective in sunlight than the original Lowe alpine generation. Id assume its not overly shiny since its being used to camoflage soldiers. Probably a very objective question. I guess I dont want to stand out too much in the bush, not that Im doing anything nefarious, but I like blending in

I thought my (son’s) was an Awry model as it has molle, lid pocket zip toward the head and PLCE zips tight way up.

Checked it is labelled Lowe, made in Vietnam & contains polyurethane foam. DPM fabric is very good match to the PLCE side pockets, yoke and goretex mittens I have.

I’d be interested to seeing the Awry version. I keep borrowing this back from the boy.

Mine was semi faded so it was fine, I don’t think they are that shiny, they are more like a ‘satin’ finish to the Lowe alpine ‘matt’ finish if that makes sense?

Thanks fellas, I wondered if the finish is an IR/night vision resistant coating they might have added to the second versions. I just read an online reviewer who believes this is the case, so the Awry packs may actually have a tactical advantage over the originals. Not that I will personally need such an advantage, just for interests sake

Well I just bought a gen 2 sting pack from sas surplus I think they are called. Forum member lostplanet has been extremely helpful on direct messages. as has every one on the thread. Thanks again fellas. On a new adventure now with a more compact and lighter pack than the old berghaus Vulcan and apart from it's size it's colour bleaching to a weird fungus orange was getting a bit embarrassing. Can't complain, it lasted 12 years at least. Now just got to find a home for the very expensive berghaus centurio 45 I don't need.

Honestly you won’t be disappointed. I bought my Lowe alpine from @lostplanet a number of years back and it’s my main go to bag, even for travelling tbh. It’s superb.
Why he sold it to me I don’t know!
