Instead of using tufnol? I'd agree that tufnol can look ok and lasts well, but why not use wooden blocks for the look and feel?Nice, is it carping to wonder why wooden blocks were used?
Didn't even occur to me that blocks might not have been in use! I wonder how old pulley and block systems are?I did not query the use of wood but questioned the use of blocks. But seems I am wrong and some form of pulley block could have been in use. So much for information from earlier sources like Regia Angelorum. My apologies.
