Lightweight axe

I've just come across this dainty little axe on the screwfix site...

Its a pretty decent price, might good to stuff in your pack for chopping up smaller bits of kindling when you are camping?

Anyone used anything simlar?

... when I want to carry an axe but am using my small rucksack, is OK for light splitting and limbing but unsurprisingly it's not in the same league as GB axes. Picked it up on eBay, was fairly inexpensive.

I have seen axes of this size for 99p!! They range from that to a fiver. You want to watch those tool markets at the weekend.

However, you will also have to figure in the price of a file and some means to clamp the head on a bench so that you can grind enough meat off the edge so that it will cut. I have used something similar and it wasn't a lot of fun, not particularly safe either since the head prefered to skip off the wood rather than bite in.

There are a number of axes that look just like that Gerber, branded by different companies.
