Ive not been on here for some time, totally went away from using a pc for about 5 years, browsed on here using my phone occasionally, recently started using a pc again.
Few years ago I stated to learn leather work watching tutorials on you tube slowly been purchasing tools and making things mainly for myself or friends I get pleasure from seeing what others have made and would like to start a thread where people just keep adding more images of what they've made, If there is already a single thread can someone point me to it, as Ive not found one. Just random posts showing few images.
I'll happily share images of things Ive made since starting to learn. (couple may be on this site already if the links still exist) I've not made anything recently, last was a knife sheath few months ago, its only a hobby cant make things at the moment my craft area is being used as a storage area atm :(
I dont care if people have posted there items recently feel free to add it to this post so its in one place for all to see.
first sheath I made was center 2nd was on the left 3rd on right

I shall post more if people start adding as I dont want it to just be me posting images of what ive made.
thanks in advance.

some nice work there guys, gotta say the one with fountain pen sat next to it, its crazy, love the effect may i ask how it was achieved?
If its something you would like to keep a secret thats fine, I respect that if you would rather not say.
I wanted stamps, so made my own using home made fom 4" nails.

A mate gave me the leather and asked if I could make him a sheath for his old Bowie I was pleased with how it turned out having never done basket weave and it was all dome with my home made stamps.

I then made a head knife from a old sprung steel scraper worked ok but didnt hold an edge long.

so made a head knife from an old circular saw blade works great edge lasts ages.

then made a sheath for JackPyke Platinum Bushcraft knife, with another home made stamp for Basket weave. It really looks like a weave close up I was really happy with how that worked.

I used the shaving foam method, not my technique I'm afraid
Have a search on YT
Very effective.
the large sheath in the picture of several items is using the oil dyes in a water bath method.
The other two sheaths are air brushed
I made all 3 knives too, except i didn't heat treat the large knife. Other than that all my work.

Cool, thanks not come across those methods. shall have a look.
been looking at the other items, in your pics wasnt sure if they were same technique.
not sure I would be so brave to test the process but I shall watch and be amazed.

searched YT, found the videos you mention recalled seeing the ones using oils and water even soap bubbles, definatly have not seen the shaving foam method before that one does look tempting as it appears you kind of have control what it will look like or at least can influence the pattern.

thanks again.

Heres a small case for a bone "zip saw" I got asked to make.
first time Ive added a mark from one of my home made stamps.

Anyway, I bought some real cheapos to try out the concept, and yeah I liked them, removed a lot of weight (think, hammer, adjustable, roofing square, tape measure, catspaw claw bar, chalkline and few sleeves of nailgun nails) from my waist and oddly enough it seems better for my back also.
The cheapos didn't last so I looked at ones made by Occidental leather and I figured I could just buy leather, few buckles and copper rivets and make em up myself.
Just wasnt hard to do at all and I even enjoyed doing it. Another would be faster and likely neater.
So, here it is on an old office chair, rear view.

The bags are bought in and I think the right one is a sparkies bag looking at the insulation tape holder I removed from it with snips, the left bag is bought from Bobs Leather which I think is based in Orange County.

Front.

Bags are handed and theres a dominant side and a fixings side, my left being my fixings side as I'm right handed.

This is the Occidental Leather version I used as erm... inspiration. Mines actually more adjustable but thats cos I wasn't sure how to set it up and just made it so I could adjust it any way.
61EuIGjrkXL._AC_SL1500_.jpg

I think the ones I made came in at about a quarter to a third of the price of the Occidental Leather ones which taking into account the time I spent doing it wasn't that great but I learned a good bit and enjoyed the process so its all good.

And yes, it looks a bit* Village People but its a comfortable way to carry the gear I use for framing jobs.

*OK, so maybe a lot.

As a side note, whats going on with the Preview button so I can take a look and see if my images work? This new posting layout isn't right easy is it?

Most likely the last image of things Ive made, seem to of lost alot of pictures..
The knife is a Mora type copy the sheath got badly damaged and was dangerous so made this one.
I want to test fit with some Mora's we have at the scout hut, to see if any of those model's fit.
As I personally like the style of Sheath.

A friend resin printed the stamp, I tried to see it if would press into the finished sheath, as I didnt get the stamp until couple weeks after sheath was completed.
