Been trying my hand at leather carving, never done anything like this before.
My Idea was to do a coat of arms for my family name, As a Christmas present to my dad.
I started off by drawing out my version of the coat of arms found on the web.
It then selected the right piece of leather and cased it.
Next i took a modeling tool and traced over the original image to score the pattern into the leather.
It was then onto the Swivel knife (evil tool) to cut the pattern into the leather.
It took some getting used to and will need to a lot more before i devolop enough muscle memory to stop my wrist aching like mad, but i'm pretty happy with it so far.
My next step will be using the stamps that i have to texture the leather and create an embossed style, before going over it again with the swivel knife to make some decorative cuts.
Than onto dying and finishing eventually
I'll keep you all posted
