Hi,

I'm in Latvia next June for a wedding.

Since I am there for the few days of the wedding, I thought it would be nice to stay a bit longer and hike around the place, do some rock climbing, some camping and generally see a bit of the countryside away from the obvious tourist set-ups.

Anyone any experience of the place?, any suggestions?

Later,

A

I went there for an experimental archaeology conference a few years ago. Dry compared to home, but their woodlands are beautiful :D

See if you can get to the reconstructed lake village at Araisi, and the open air ethnographic museum (I know it sounds weird, but it's brilliant, an unbelievable collection of wooden buildings, you'll come home with such a notion to build something ) It's only about half an hour from Riga.
