Thanks again. Ive just been having a play dodging the showers and its working well. Throwing some nice sparks too off the fire steel. Going to take it to work tomorrow for a spot of whittling and battening when I get time. Cheers.

Simon, forgot to say the sheath im still thinking about so another week or so for that im afraid. Possibly burl wood and leather top to match half the handle. Making a prototype out of Ash at the mo to work out how to do it. I'll keep you posted.
Been making tenon joints for a suffolk shelter and tent pegs today with me new toy and its loving it.

thought you might like to know that the blade I mentioned in my previous post is now finished, - it survived the heat treatment and I'll be sorting out the handle in the next few weeks.

It won't be as nice as your's though Addo.

How did you carve the handle at the end? Being there is metal within there ?

Good stuff Andy, have fun making the handle.

Ski, it was a mixture of rasp, then file, followed by abrasive paper for the shaping of the harder sections.

All done. In a bit of a rush as usual, so a quick plain leather sheath for this one, as its of out to play again this weekend.

Made a firesteel to match out of the same birch burr, which needs an elastic fixing for when its a thinner diameter, great fit for now though.
