Can we chat about cordage please. I found some great lime bark last week. It had managed to process itself into perfect cordage material so that has set me off on another little cordage spree. Yesterday I found some cambium from Larch which looks like it would make really good stuff form string making, lots of long robust soft fibres

I've been googling and come up with nothing so far, has anyone tried it? and has anyone come up with a way of neutralising the fine hair like splinters that embed themselves all over your hands when handling the larch cambium. Thanks and ouch!

p.s there's some of it sitting in hot water just now to see if that works

Hello :) and welcome

Larch roots are good for cordage, but I haven't tried the inner bark.
My skin seems to be sensitive to too many things already :sigh: I'm interested to hear how you get on with the larch, but really interested too to hear how anyone does deal with the wee splintery bits.

cheers,
Toddy
