I know it's in the Daily Wail but 11 dead and hundreds poisoned all because they didn't get their mushroom ident wrong is pretty unprecedented.

I don’t know much about fungi in Iran, but I’d say Amanita phalloides is fairly easy to identify, at least amongst European species. Not good news for a nation that has more than its share of problems.
