Ok, its own up time...
What have you used your knife for, other than cutting something..
Maybe its just other good uses you can do with a knife like splitting wood, or crushing garlic cloves with the flat of the blade etc etc.....

OR

Maybe those things you have used the knife for that it was not intended...
Like... I have (long long ago  ) used the handle as a hammer on my swiss champ, and I once ruined a perfectly good blade by errrrr, using it as a screwdriver  :twak: I was being lazy and the blade snapped...DOH...

So, lets hear the good uses and the not so good uses...

I used a little Mora classic a couple of days ago to pack resin and charcoal glue into an Elder tube; like a mini spatula. It worked very well but clean up was a mess
I also used the blade to drag along fine birch bark to turn it into little curls for firelighting, like curling ribbons using a scissor blade.....funnily enough I thought I'd have to re-sharpen the edge, but no, it acted a bit like a strop

cheers,
Toddy

I spotted Robin using the end of the handle of one of his Penillion scandis to crease some leaflets he was folding ready to go out to a show. The smooth, rounded mammoth bone handle was perfect for flattening the crease so they'd pack flatter!

I've used my clipper for opening beer bottles . . .
I've also used it to pin notes to the door

Used the butt of it to break open shells of peanuts and the like . . . tied another knife to a string to use it as a plumb line once.

And opening paint cans . . .

I'll admit to breaking an Opinel knife as I was young and stupid and wanted to try my hand at throwing knives...

Three pieces is the answer.:(

After reading through the list of things people posted, I'd have to say DITTO to most or all of them. Altho, I never used it to clean my ear. Teeth, toes, fingernails, and the occasional leak in the skin, but never my ear.

So I've been trying to think of some uses that haven't been mentioned - yet.

Let's see now:

Playing Mumblypeg
Holding up a picture (yeah, I really didn't think much of that knife)
Tire Tool - to remove a tire from the rim
Impromptu electrical fuse
Compass for drawing
Anchor for a rope in a tree
Plug in a whole in a wood tank (with a rag wrapped around it - nothing else in sight)
Wedge to level a large rock - until I could scrounge a correct sized little rock
Chainsaw Wedge on a tree I was felling when the wind shifted
Paperweight
Collateral for a ... um ... err ... never mind

Just a few things over the past years - that haven't already been mentioned.

Mikey - yee ol' grumpy blacksmith out in the Hinterlands

p.s. Yes, I often open cans of beans with my knife. I get that great "star" pattern of sharp triangles sticking up off of the top of the can! But then I use those cans to ... replicate ... and authentic 1880's trash pile over at our cowboy/old west town. So many cans back then were openned that way. This adds another level of ... character ... to our old town.
