Howdy folks!
Made this knife for my lovely girlfriend today :D Bottom one in these pics:

Blade is an E. Jonsson, 3 1/2" long and carbon steel.Handle it an unknown recycled wood, charred a bit and treated with teak oil followed by linseed. The wee bolster is a slice of leather, treated with superglue.

The top knife is my own, and the only mods I've done to it was to sand off the red paint, char the wood and oil.

I bought these knives together, so I thought it quite a nice idea to turn them into a "his and hers" set, as it were :)

I'll be replacing both sheaths when I get some leather (and wood to rehandle my knife...) but the stock plastic sheaths do just fine for now; I removed the rubbish belt loop from both and mine has a baldric (the thonging wraps are just for decoration, and to keep all the loose ends together so I can untie the knots and retie on a different sheath). Her sheath will probably wind up with a simple braided belt loop, since she thinks I look stupid with my baldric

Thanks for looking!

Cheers mate :D I learnt it from this very forum, as a matter of fact :p Recall seeing it for the first time and thinking "What on EARTH is a SWMBO? The way they're talking, they sound terrifying!"

I was right :D :p

I realy rate the Jonsson blades and use a lot for rehandling - yours look pretty darned nice as well!
Does anyone have any info on Jonsson though? I tried Google but came up blank!

w00dsmoke - damn, didn't think of that :lmao: It really is an odd coincidence - especially since I only did the charring and oiling a few days ago! :p

John - me too, I think they're great! I found it a bit difficult to get on with when it was zero ground, but a couple sweeps with the sandpaper on wet or dry to get a tiny microbevel really helped the edge retention. I googled E. Jonsson too, but can't find anything! You'll have a PM inbound in a few minutes about where I can buy them too :p

Wilderbeast - Cheers :D I got the idea on here, I think, from somebody who would burn pine before carving it, the idea being that parts of the grain would burn deeper than others to give a lasting effect, I think.

Cheers folks!

Just figured I'd show the first part of the suspension...

She couldn't decide whether she wanted a neck sheath or belt sheath, so I'm giving the best of both worlds! The carabiner is there to attach to a belt loop, ruck sack strap, etc, or a braided leather necklace I've yet to make for it, as I'm out of leather thonging! Hopefully by the time I make a new sheath, she'll have a better idea of what she wants and I can make something prettier!

Cheers
Pete
