Got a knick in a blade and thought that I may try and get it out. Would you resharpen the whole blade or concentrate on the section with the knick followed by the rest of the blade?
The knick is by the handle single bevel.

There's far more experienced than I on here when it comes to dealing with these problems (hopefully someone will see your question) but I would guard against just grinding one part as you'll fundamentally alter the blade shape. How big is the dink ?....it may be better just to smooth out any burrs and let normal sharpening eventually deal with it as the blade is gradually reprofiled. We can have a look next weekend if you like....

If its a scandi grind id and the nick small id do as falcon says and smooth out the nick. Otherwise you will wear the blade out prematurely. Just adapt cutting technique a little.

I would take a small amount of 240 - 600 grit paper and use the edge to very gently smooth the nick so it has no sharp corners and is nicely rounded

depends how big the nick is. if not too bad then I would just leave it and let it gradualkly sharpen out otherwise you are grinding away your lovely knife for no really good reason. I'm just not too anal about looking after my tools: as long as they do the job well then that will do :)
