Been having a play with the new Response pack, I can get a lot in it.View attachment 28182

In the front pocket I have an 8' x 5 or 6' emergency shelter, an emergency blanket and a torch. View attachment 28183

The main pouch contains the billy from my hobo stove. Inside the billy are my Trangia, Meths bottle, folding kfs, folding cup and brew kit. Also in the main pouch are Look what we found meat balls, instant potatoes. a sachet of porridge and 4 tent pegs, not shown and a small hip flask, for medicinal purposes. The small pocket on the right has my TP, hygiene kit, a mini FAK, fire kit and 20' of paracord. The small pocket on the left has 2 snack bars in it, with room for a packet of fags and a chocolate bar.The Mora clips nicely to the outside of the pack, but I might change that for my Laplander and put my Opinel or Svord in the pack.

View attachment 28184 View attachment 28185 I'm very impressed with what can be put into the pack, but I would like to hear your thoughts and ideas. Can't wait for this challenge.

Nice little set up there :)

Are you using it as an emergency pack Colin?

If you are then have you thought about vacuum packing stuff like your emergency shelter and blanket to gain a bit of extra space

Hmmnnn you might need braces on your trousers to hold them up!!! That's the only negative I find of mine is I seem to be always pulling it up...

Lol, It will be a shoulder carry.:)

Nice looking setup Colin.

What are you doing for water?

Cheers Martin, It will be like the Boone challenge, water carried separately.:)

I was amazed at how much you could get into the response pack. I just didn't like how it felt wearing it on my waist so changed to the maxpedition shoulder bag

Orric

The pack can be set up for a shoulder carry.:)

Cheers Steve, it's just a one off challenge, and I needed to open the Mylar packs to measure them. I'm seriously thinking of making up one to keep in the truck though, it would be so handy for so many reasons.

The strap isnt a problem if used over the shoulder.

That's what I've found (fully loaded it's too heavy/unwieldy for the waist) but if it's going over the shoulder then I figure I'd be better of with the Versipak, but if your going over the shoulder why not go a little larger and go for a Gearslinger?

I know you could keep going until your wearing a 90l bergan . . . lol . . but I guess it's finding what your comfortable taking and wearing.

I've had fun messing around with these packs, seeing what you can squeeze into them. For a while I used it to carry my sleep system (minus sleeping bag)...

To help the weight issue I use a web strap attached to each side at the back and over one shoulder, works well.

I always mean to buy one of these, they look just the job really. Prefect for when I am hunting with my air rifles, obviously you don't need a great deal for that but these things are pretty cavernous for what they are.
