Hi
Can somebody please explain the concept of a Kelly Kettle , how do they work , do you put items into it etc to make it hot , whats your favourite cooking item also , maybe with pics . Thanks ( ps Yes Im a nebie and just beginning to learn , thanks for all your help so far and for making me welcome ) . Ian

A kelly kettle is basically a hollow water boiler with a fire in the centre. The water is held in the jacket surrounding the fire chimney which is then heated and the flames pass through it.

They're very fast and will burn almost anything that's combustable, they are a bit of a one trick pony but I do like mine.

Plenty of photos in this thread, that should give you the idea.

I find that the main tricks to using mine are (1) use only small bits of fuel like small twigs and (2) be prepared to reduce the air flow somehow, otherwise things can get a bit too exciting. :) :campfire:

They're great for boiling a lot of water quickly with very low running costs, although they can take a bit of time to get started especially if the wood is a bit damp. They're a bit bulky and messy compared to some alternatives.
