To stop myself getting too excited (and I am already packed to go) before the Moot, I have been doing a few odd jobs -
Replacing the fake buckle/magnet clasps on a Charity Shop Leather Rucksack Handbag (very weak magnets) with real strap and buckle closures.
Making my wife a new 1" wide leather belt
Treating my Square Wooden Bowl/plate with boiling milk to seal it
Likewise treating my Kuksa

I would have taken photos - but the camera is packed up in the van for the Moot!

Anyone else finishing small projects to keep busy? :)

I'm all packed too, chomping at the bit to go. The only projects for me to do this weekend, were to repair and paint our 90 year old porch, mow the lawns front and back, and take down a 15 year old Maple, that was dieing. Shame that, but I have some nice carving wood for the moot. The one bushy job I had, was to oil a spoon I had made at the Suffolk meet earlier this month.

Did the shopping, sharpened a knife, hung out laundry on line and then took it in because of the barbey next door, packed rucksack number two, made birthday card for mate whose birthday is mid-moot and left instructions with husband to post, unpacked a bag and repacked it. Twiddled thumbs. Watched Rebus on TIVo. Read book. Ate lunch. Negotiated change of bedding on duvet from hell for the lift to the moot tomorrow. Tiddly Pom, tiddly pom. The sound of thumbs twiddling.

Booze shopping while wife did the food shop was shortly followed by a trial pack of my XTrail

Now urgently watching 3 trailers on eBay to carry all the wife's Glamping kit.

Oh dear, two rucksacks, four bags of food, one tent and yoga mat combo, one bag of wood and odds and ends, and a day bag of EDC type stuff. Hmm. Good job it's not the zombie apocalypse I'd only make it as far as the downstairs flat.

Listening to you lot packing your small lorries with stuff, I'm looking at my 60L backpack and wondering what it is I'm forgetting to bring...

Booze clearly!

Last year, all my kit fitted in my backpack. This year not so much but I'm going to be cosy well fed and watered.

I managed to buy and collect a trailer from eBay this evening so disaster averted.

3 and a bit boxes of food and drink, 2 boxes of craft work for sale on traders day, 1 box of old kit for sale on the bring and buy, 1 small box of toys, 1 kitbag of flint and steel workshop kit, 1 rucksack of string to turn into rope (workshop?), sticks for Martial Arts class, water barrel (we camp a long way from a tap), wood for first night, clothing for 14 days (I refuse to do a laundry) and a wheelbarrow to move it all in!
That is on top of my camping kit....

If I was walking it'd all fit in a 50 litre bag. But I'm not. So it's like woo hoo food! Gear! Books! Crafts! Waterproofs (wimp)! No alcohol, can't drink it, I fall over. I know I know. But I have just made cake. And a sleeping quilt and mat and blanket and two pillows. Oooh it's like luxury. Him indoors says it's like having a holiday but isn't cos it's in a tent. Pah.

In the weeks before going on a course and subsequent trip to Dartmoor, my rucksack was in the living room and getting repacked almost daily. (It's amazing how you can whittle down the crap you really didn't need to take.)
My daughter was getting exasperated with it.

After she decided she wanted to come with me to the Moot, her kit has been in the living room for the last month, and she's been repeatedly repacking it. Even all her food, measured and bagged. It did make me smile.
(The force is strong in that one!)

Projects.... Put the final grind and hone yet another knife. Sharpen the axe. Chop up palettes for the first night's wood. Help a mate put the roof on a huge shed, empty the car of crap.... Well that was yesterday evening's list !
I really must find a few mins to get my kit packed and finish the 'outfit' for the NC theme!

Leaving packing to the last minute as ever, I've filled my pack, with everything in it, apart from... the food... If anyone wants to whistle the tetris theme for the next hour or two while I try to rearrange everything so it fits...

o/~ To Moscow I came seeking fortune, but they're making me work till I'm dead, the bourquis have it so easy, the tsar's putting gold on his bread, the people of moscow are hungry, but think what a feast there could be, if we could create a socialist state that cared for the people like me... o/~

o/~ I am the one who arranges the bags that descend upon me... *whistles*

When you go through the gate at the and of the road you'll drive past the NC on your right hand when going to the parking area.
