Has anyone seen one of these in the flesh? Does it have any kind of 'shelf' at the base or does it just rely on the tightened straps to hold the load?

Thats somewhat interesting - struggling to see how that could work without some sort of integrated frame but the photos don't seem to show any and I'm sure if there was they would be showing in depth photos and detailing it with super marketing jargonese.

You tempted? or just interested?

Tempted, though the price is a little high. I like the idea of the old frame Karrimor you can lash stuff to. I want something for lugging stuff to the wood and back which might range from water to a replacement battery for the hut rather than always having to take the truck down because I've got something heavy/bulky to carry.

However, I'm struggling to justify the price at £370.

Yep, I did look at that, and it's worth a consideration. But, I really like the Karrimor SA Back System - it suits me; it may not suit others I appreciate. Once I've found a brand that suits me, is reliable, provides good service etc., I tend to stick to it. However, at over twice the price .....?

I can see the items they've loaded into the marketing phots but honestly ?I can't see it being feasible and regardless of your own fitness/durability weight on your back is weight on your back and still high up - quite possible to do yourself an injury in this fashion I think.

Slippy slidey forest floor, not level foot angles, new/unusual load pattern and gait...

Job for the young boys I think...

Let me introduce you to Cody & Roger & Andy of the PVC tubing rucksack.

I think PVC pipe is quite an underrated material for static type strength- advantage are - inexpensive , heat mouldable , Various sized fittings easily available.

You may be right. Before I bought the truck (ATV) I lugged all my tools and materials up and down using a sack barrow - hard work but it kept me fit :)

TBH, most of the work I do in the wood is 'jobs for the young boys' :)
