As its Friday thought I'd post a question as I need some new light reading material and I just wondered what magazines everyone reads, if any, from FHM to Model Collector monthly

I often get Trail, The great outdoors, combat & survival (on a free subscription), airgunworld (now and again), Ride (motorbikes) and read the occasional lads mag at work (FHM, Maxim).

Whats everyoneelse read?

Andrew

My favourite is Geographical which I get as a member of the RGS, but I used to get Trail and occasionally Wanderlust (not Wonderlust, which is quite different :D ). I don't any more since I used to source them from the shop I worked in, and to be honest I don't miss them. Trail is very much "buy this 500 quid goretex paclite jacket that will last you a year, and can only be used on one day it's so specific", and Wanderlust seems to be "Buy your own Safari park! It'd be great! If not, buy some country somewhere like Indonesia, it's quite nice"

TGO.

Trout and Salmon.

Dalesman. Also sometimes Cumbria.

Used to get Bike, Ride (both m/cycle), Trail and others, but I'm boycotting EMAP as all their magazines are endlessly identical and repetetive in my opinion.

Also used to get the Peak District one but it stopped publication recently.

Jim.

I used to read Adventure travel Magazine. It's quite good and have a nice featured articule called Spam Challenge which is good.

Other then that it's few Irish titles which I doubt you could get called Walking World Ireland (Hiking and hill walking in ireland plus enviornmental and wildlife articules) and the Outsider (which a fast paced make and has everything from mountain biking to canoeing) the last one I usually scan before I buy as some issue have nothing of interest to me.

Other then that it's books

Classic Military Vehicle............brooom brooom

Plus Combat and Survival as we advertise in there a long with Soilder Magazine :D

Me I read the odd copy of Trail got bored with it along time ago same old same old in every copy.

Country Smallholding not very bushcrafti but I learn a lot and there are always good articles and interesting opinions on allsorts to do with animals vegetables and the countryside in it,:)

On the odd occasion I’ve been known to get a copy of Bird Watching and hide it in a brown paper bag.:o

Two magazines I would love to have a look at but don’t know where to find them in the UK if you can get them here are Wilderness Way and Backwoods Home any ideas where I could pick up a copy of either so I could make up my mind to subscribe would be great

the mags/papers i regulary buy are countrymans weekly, mcn and rugby world.

i have a good browse when ever i'm in smiths or the like and get something if it looks interesting - adventure travel/TGO/trail/MBUK/shooting times/LRO...

if i need cheering up i'll head for FHM, as it always makes me laugh. i looked at the zoo/nuts mags in work a while back. while the pictures were very good, the mag's were to dull (glad i didnt pay for them), but i guess thats the point of them eh.

I should have a copy of Wilderness way coming to me, I'll forward it on once I have had a look if you like, providing it turns up of course ;)

Oh jees- Gun Mart, more or less every bike mag (I'm on the front of Used Bike Guide in November or so on my mOnster), Practical Boat Owner and other boaty porn, Angler's Mail, Most car mags from a geezer at work (saves me a fortune!), Funeral Service Journal, NRA (of America that is...) propoganda/gun mags from my dad (American Freedom is a right hoot -sorry for the pun), Asian Babes, assorted Fly Fishing mags, The Embalmer, and anything else that I'm into at the time. Yup, I read a lot of mags...

New Scientist, Private Eye, WSDG Journal (weaving, etc.,), woodworking magazines, British Archaeology, any craft magazine I don't have to pay for
Cheers,Toddy

Normally I get Trail magazine and sometimes a mountain bike mag as well. Used to get a lot of others but didn't read most of what was in them.

I tend to browse mags in the shop and buy ones which have stuff I want to look at in more detail. These include Great Outdoors( bit gear obsessive but nowhere near as bad as Trail who buys a new goretex jacket every month?),Jim Perrins column is always worth a read and I once understood him on only the second reading. British Archaeology and Combat Survival now and again.BBC Wildlife is interesting with excellent photograph.Ive been recently browsing some of the shooting ones as well. The best of all is Viz ,especially the letters page.

Spacemonkey -is Embalmer Magazine a bit of a dry read?
